Verifone VX520 Update

We have received information from Verifone that all VX520 terminals will require an update by May 30th in order to continue processing. It is critically important that you update your machine. The instructions are very simple, and if your terminal is connected through the internet the process should be painless. Below are the steps you should follow as soon as possible.

Special note for terminals still connecting through phone lines: The steps below are the same, but the process will take a bit longer. If your terminal connects through a phone line rather than the internet, plan to perform the update at a time when you won’t need to process transactions for a while.

Step 1:

Settle the batch if needed. To do this, press the settlement option from the main sales screen. Some terminals might show this option on the first screen, but most will require you to press the leftmost purple button (“More”) first. From there, press the green enter key if prompted to confirm.

Step 2:

From the sale menu, press the star/asterisk key (*) to display the application options screen.

Step 3:

Press 9 to display EMA update options. If you don’t see EMA options on your terminal, call Customer Support at 1-855-360-0360 for further assistance.

Step 4:

Press F3 to select “Update Now.” If the terminal prompts for a password, the default password is: 1, Alpha, Alpha, 6, 6, 8, 3, 1, Enter. If you have changed the password from the default, enter that password instead. The Alpha key is the small grey button in the middle of the row of purple ones just below the screen.

Pay attention to the screen and the receipt at this point for messages about success or failure. If you get a message that the update was refused, it’s likely that your terminal needs to be settled. Return to step one and settle the terminal, then try the steps again.

If this doesn’t help, please email us at hello@360payments.com or call us at 1-855-360-0360.

Step 5:

To resume processing sales after a successful update, press F3 to access the “SoftPay/Payments/Credit/Debit/EMV” home screen. As always, we recommend running a test transaction for $0.01 at this point to make sure everything is rock solid.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This update is being pushed out by the terminal manufacturer, and we have received confirmation that terminals that are not updated by May 30 may be unable to process until the update is completed.

Again, if you run into any difficulties with the above steps, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. You can always reach us at hello@360payments.com or at 1-855-360-0360.

Thank you for your continued business!
